He gets cold and rushes into a bus. A man adopts him and takes him home. A sad, lonely, and hungry cat spies an opportunity to be safe and warm by hurrying on to a city bus. There the cat cozies up to a gentleman also riding the bus, and the two lives are changed forever. This is a sweet, feel-good picture book with a happy ending. The sparse text is by and large made up of onomatopoeia words. Instead, the story is told mostly through the illustrations, with some pages have no language included at all. Kim is an extremely talented illustrator, expressing the emotions and plot of the story this way. The lovely pictures will bring readers back to this book over and over again. Cat on the Bus is a mostly wordless picture book that shows the story through pictures and a few "meows". This could be great for younger children or ELL students. Anyone can look at the pictures and see that the poor cat is alone and finally finds a family that welcomes him. It is a sweet story that even though pictures emotions rise from the content. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the story with a happy ending. A homeless cat searches for food and for a warm place to curl up in this mostly wordless picture-book, eventually finding a comfortable napping spot on a bus. When an elderly gentleman gets on, he befriends the cat, eventually taking her home with him... Cat On the Bus is a debut for Aram Kim, an expatriate Korean artist living in New York City, and features an endearing feline heroine and appealing pastel and pencil illustrations. I have a distinct weakness for stories about homeless animals (especially kitties!) finding a home, so naturally I found the story here enjoyable, but I think young children will feel the same. There isn't much text - some pages have a word or two, but most are wordless - but the visuals are more than enough to carry the story. Recommended to young cat lovers, and to anyone looking for picture-books aimed at younger children. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
