What happens when a gang of kid thieves is hired by an adult in financial trouble to pull off reuniting three lost sapphires? The result is filled with fast chases, close calls and a bit of the paranormal. Sting is a fast paced well written story about a gang of young jewel thieves. They face the same problems as any family, and they are a family since they live together and work together. Boys will love the action scenes complete with death defying acts and car chases. Girls will also be able to identify with the female characters and the family drama. This book is recommended for any reader who loves a fast paced, action read driven by well developed characters I didn't read the first book in the series but that wasn't much of a problem for me besides some minor confusion whenever they would refer to the first book. What was a problem for me was the usual spy plot and such. For example when they are planning a heist they throw out the "usual" names for famous heist getaways/ideas like Orange Vest and Loutsenheizer. It was kind of a mindless read for me as there was not many things to fugue out and a straight plot. This is to be expected as this is a book for middle schoolers. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Sting expands on the same basic plot as Loot but with a bit of a twist as the four main characters must learn what it means to be a real family and to share the burden of failure. Character development is mostly left behind since we were introduced to these characters in Loot, however, March does go on a journey of personal discovery as he has to learn from his father, Alfie's, experience and mistakes. Just like Loot, Sting is an exciting story, filled with international intrigue along with action and adventure. Overall, another enjoyable ride, well worth the read. ( )
