Se in The Hollow Boy avevamo lasciato la Lockwood & Co. a pezzi, The Creeping Shadow è il romanzo che ci mostra quando Lockwood abbia bisogno di Lucy e quanto Lucy abbia bisogno di Lockwood. E di quanto entrambз abbiano bisogno di George e di quanto George stia traviando Holly per portarla dal lato oscuro degli zuccheri e dei carboidrati.

Per quanto infatti presз singolarmente siano dellз agenti dalle capacità straordinarie, nessunǝ di loro è in grado di sopravvivere da solǝ in un mondo dove lз adultз lз usano come pedine per i loro giochi di potere. Lucy, Lockwood, George e Holly, insieme allз loro alleatз, hanno bisogno lз unз dellз altrз per poter sopravvivere. Quanto ci mette Lucy a tornare alla Lockwood & Co.? Più di quanto pensiate, date le straordinarie capacità persuasive di Lockwood.

In The Creeping Shadow, infatti, abbiamo ancora un’altra prova dell’immenso carisma e dello spaventoso fascino di Anthony Lockwood, un personaggio capace di bucare le pagine e di farti venire voglia di entrare nella storia per unirti alla sua agenzia. Allo stesso tempo, però, è capace di metterti addosso un’ansia enorme perché è assolutamente sprezzante della sua incolumità e Stroud è assolutamente capace di tirarci dei brutti scherzi (non mi sono ancora ripresa dalla fine de La Porta di Tolomeo, ecco).

But it was Lockwood making the suggestion, and me listening, and though my veins fizzed at the danger he was putting himself in, I didn’t waste time or effort. I only nodded. If Lockwood saw a way, I went with it. He trusted me. I trusted him. That’s how we stayed alive.

Per quanto riguarda l’avanzamento della storia, stiamo andando in una direzione abbastanza scontata per una storia di fantasmi, potere, vita e morte, ma ci stiamo andando con tanta adrenalina e succosità che non è affatto un problema. Anzi, adesso che le maschere sono cadute, sarà molto interessante leggere come la Lockwood & Co. gestirà la situazione. O, più probabile, come la farà esplodere. ( )

Really liked! Love the combo of Quill and Holly, as well as Flo and George, and the Skull!! ( )

Lucy is making a living at being a free agent but when Lockwood comes to ask to hire her on a matter he is undertaking for Penelope Fittes she cannot refuse.

This is my favorite one yet! The characters get better all the time (especially the Skull!) I liked Lucy's interactions with everyone and I even enjoyed the addition of one of Fittes' former agents to the group. Also, there is a scene near the end (I won't go into too much detail) where Holly shows a new side to herself which surprises Lucy and I thought it was great!!

Very well done! (as you can tell from the numerous exclamation points LOL) ( )

I liked this so much more than the last book, I might be overdoing or a bit with stars, but it's at least a 4, so indulge me.
There was nice resolution in this installment, and Stroud really opened up the Lockwood and Co. world to a lot more plot possibilities.
I loved the humor, especially George's and the skull's, and I'm glad the angst has been dialed back.
Can't wait for the next. ( )

Great fun, the ghostly world keeps expanding Harry Potter style. Definitely read these books in order... ( )
