This is an incredible example of how not to write a book ( )

A pre-warp race has created a disaster that has wiped out their system. Kirk and the Enterprise must find a way around the prime directive and the Klingons to save as many of the survivors as possible. A good book and enjoyable read. ( )

A straightforward and enjoyable basic Star Trek adventure about an attempt to rescue a culture whose solar system is disintegrating, and the ethical dilemma that the Prime Directive puts Kirk into. Nothing special, but a return to the early days of the mission, and a fun read. ( )

The gas giant Thesau, the ninth planet out from the star Tautee, expanded, then contracted, as if it were cookie dough in the hands of a huge, unseen child.
