At this point, I want to finish out the series, which I think started strong, and honestly, is just decent summer reading when I don't want to read anything deep. (It's the Corona equivalent of beach reads, when I can't or won't actually go to a beach these days.) But the hyperbolic love stories of 16/17/18-year-olds is just wearing too thin on me. Each of the protagonists: Sloane, Quinn, Tate... they're all just children who think they understand everything and have the perfect love story lives wrapped up in mystery. I'm too old to read and appreciate YA. I have mostly stopped reading it, except that I had wanted to re-read this series, and now I know that YA is just not something I can tolerate reading anymore. It's too shallow and saccharine and takes itself way too seriously. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Because I only know of "Tatum" as a male name I immediately thought that "Tatum" was going to be a male and this was going to be a gay romance and was so excited. Unfortunately, Tatum is a female and it was more of the same about "True love and you can't separate someone by removing their memories because TRUE LOVE and YOUR HEART KNOWS!" which is a drum beat I've gotten sick of hearing. The twist at the end intrigued me enough to make me want to continue the series though!
Humorously, I may be reading too many Young Adult books. My best friend was telling me about a book she was reading and as she was telling me I was picturing the main character as being a young teen/young adult and my brain was trying to make the information fit with what I was assuming. While also asking, "Where are the parents in all of this?!" (It wasn't a Young Adult book that my friend was reading.) ( )
