I am so in love with all of these books because they are very relatable for children. In this story, the younger sister Elisa carries around her doll "Airmail" everywhere and her older brother Russell thinks that is childish. Anyone who has siblings can relate to this issue. Growing up is part of life and this may help children see that disagreements are inevitable. I also love the little excerpts from Elisa's letters to people. For example, "Dear Grandma, Send me a letter Love, Elisa". It is in a complete different font than the rest of the book and it makes the story interesting to read. Finally, the illustrations are rare, but they really allow a reader to make visualizations as to what the characters are doing and then every so often they can see if their guesses were accurate. It make the reader want to keep reading. I would recommend this story for third grade teachers or teachers that have students beginning to read chapter books.
