Last Dance at the Savoy is both a personal story about Geoff Miller, the founding editor of Los Angeles Magazine, who lived life fully despite having Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a neurological disease for which there is no cure or treatment, and insights into caregiving based on my own experiences. The challenges presented by PSP, a terminal illness that affects some 20,000 Americans (a number similar to that of Lou Gehrig disease, ALS), are daunting. There are questions one can ask a doctor and manuals available with tips and advice, but the real answers one wants can only come from those who already have or are dealing with the day-to-day issues of caring for someone with a progressive neurological condition and all its ramifications.
