For years and years, the Baltimore Orioles were the envy of every Major League Baseball team with stars like Frank Robinson, Rick Dempsey, and Cal Ripken, Jr. bringing pennants and flags home to Baltimore. This is a must-own book of stories for every true fan! From Memorial Stadium to Camden yards, now Orioles fans can relive the greatest moments in Baltimore baseball history with Louis Berney's revised edition of Tales from the Baltimore Orioles Dugout. Berney provides countless stories of players, filling the pages with both memorable moments on the field and silly anecdotes from in the clubhouse or on the road. Individually, these stories are funny, poignant, and eccentric.: Bob Turley, Joe Durham, Billy O'Dell Gus Triandos, Brooks Robinson, Bob Boyd Milt Pappas, Jackie Brandt, Jim Gentile Boog Powell, Robin Roberts, Paul Blair Jim Palmer, Earl Weaver, Al Bumbry Ken Singleton, Mike Flanagan, Rick Dempsey Tippy Martinez, Steve Stone, Cal Ripken, Jr. And many, many more! Collectively, they offer a portrait of a team that is as much a family and a community treasure as it is a professional sports organization. Tales from the Baltimore Orioles Dugout is truly a must-have for any Orioles fan. My real dissatisfaction is that they rereleased an edition in 2012 without making any additions or changes. There are 36 interviews, but none from anyone who was with the team after 2000. This represents about a fifth of the team’s history that is missing and those behind the scenes stories have the potential to be more interesting since everyone tells stories about the good times, but not as many people know what went on during the bad ones. Also, the editors should be ashamed that they released a book in June 2012 that says that Mike Flanagan is currently the EVP of Baseball Operations for the Orioles, when he left that position in 2008 and died in August 2011.
