I think I may have outgrown this series. I love the inventiveness of the Fae monsters but this book was too much internal struggle, guilt, and other angst. Too much focus on whether Dani and Ryodan would ever do the deed. And I really didn't feel like the Ryodan character was very developed (except his abs!). I'm sorry to say goodbye because up to now I have really liked this series. ( )

This was such an awesome book! The personal growth journey that Dani makes in this book in just over a 2 year period is wonderful. I bawled like a baby when Dancer died in the last book, however I really ugly cried when Dani read the letter Dancer wrote to her. Yes I knew she would end up with Ryodan but it was sweet & tender that she "grew" up with Dancer.

I LOVED this book & all the Fever series! I look forward to the next one that comes out in like 363 give or take days!! ( )

As always, KMM brought it. Dani was as badass as ever but she's evolving and growing...literally. She's not as reckless as she used to be but she's not as robotic and cold as her alter-personality, Jada, either.

Everybody thought the Song of Making would fix everything but it caused a whole set of new problems. The Fae are stronger and the old gods are awake. Neither are fond of humans but they hate each other more.

Mac and Barrons have left to deal with the Fae and Ryodan, along with the rest of The Nine have left too. Dani is left alone to keep her beloved Dublin safe.

This book had a different feel to it than the other books in the series. I think it was slowed down a bit to allow the reader to feel more and not be so disconnected from the characters. Not that I didn't connect but I've always felt they were a little too cold. I found myself crying in several spots of this book. I don't think any of the previous books made me so emotional. They mostly went too fast and had me more shocked than sad like when Mac ate Jo. Even though I really liked Jo,I was too shocked--and a lot grossed out--to be sad. Plus, there was a lot happening really fast so I wasn't able to mourn for more than a second before I had to move on to the next peril.

I'm excited to see where the story will go from here if it is going anywhere. ( )

3 down-with-the-train-wreck-stars.

It is difficult for me to rate this book. On my emotional side, I enjoyed it, but on my rational side, there are still things missing.

Let's start with giving voice to my emotional side. I am surprised that I found myself enjoying being in Dani's head. I have never been a fan of her, but in this book, she has grown up and become more mature. That made me easier to connect with her. It was also nice to have some of the points of view from her to have a comprehensive vision of the overall story and world. I even enjoyed her moments with Shazam (cutie!). And I guess that's all from my emotional side.

Onto my rational side... Let's start with the plot. Basically, nothing solid happens in this volume. Chapter 26 is worth reading to get an overview of the Fae's timeline, told by Christian. The book is more focused on what is happening to Dani. Even though my emotional side enjoyed it, it doesn't seem to naturally fit Dani, if not for forcefully giving her a HEA with Ryodan and Shazam.
Even if I like Ryodan and I am happy that he gets his HEA, I don't feel the chemistry between him and Dani.

When I said that something is missing, I am referring to the what recently happened with Dani/Jada. We know that Dani had a bad and difficult and we got here some flashbacks with her mother, too. However, we do not get any (or very little) information of what happened to her in the Silvers and her coming back as Jada nor her transformation back to Dani. I also think that her relationship with Ryodan was not well-built enough and did not really grow over time. I do not see those characters slowly falling in love with each other as Mac and Barrons did.

As with the other books in the series, the rising action creeps along at a snail's pace until about 50% of the way through the book. It's almost painful. The story is exactly what I've come to expect from the series though. Lots of mysteries, complex storylines weaved between characters and action-packed pockets.

My most favorite part was a letter from my favorite character, Dancer. I wept. It was beautiful.

This story was Dani and Ryodan's coming together story. It was beautiful, raw and painfilled. It was perfect. It was long awaited. ( )
