Twin sons of war hero, over-the-top perfectionists, each adhering to their own rigid code, grown to hate each other. One the leader of the most powerful mercenary unit and the other Head of the policing arm of a world. Wars have destroyed Earth, leaving a dying wasteland. All the colony worlds weakened, now waring against each other, looting and enslaving the weaker worlds. The characters in this book believe people are incapable of change, the powerful always wanting more and the weak just sheep, waiting to be slaughtered. Though they talk of honor, killing is just a job.
As a book of military might this is a great book. Strong characters, lots of action, a really low opinion of human nature and an invitation to look at the events going on around you and see if you agree. If war is hell, why is it as common as death and taxes? ( )

Highly recommended. As a reader of many Sci Fi books I have to say 'Mercs' is up there amongst the best. Great characters and settings, it was hard to put down. ( )
