Sai Mendelssohn, entra William Walton, mas o tom jocoso de Sonho de uma noite de verão é aqui repisado. Não é a melhor peça de Shakespeare, mas contém a famosa fala das Sete Idades do Homem, que começa com 'All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players' (Ato 2, Scena 7). With its explorations of sexual ambivalence, As You Like It speaks directly to the twenty-first century. Juliet Dusinberre demonstrates that Rosalind's authority in the play grows from new ideas about women and reveals that Shakespeare's heroine reinvents herself for every age.
