Paige in book 1 comes across as a strong woman and I wasn't sure I'd like her in her own book but she has a vulnerability and desperately needs to be loved. She also she herself not worthy due to things in her past.
Ryan has a dark past to but he, for his own reasons appears as Paige and Mallory have dubbed him 'Captain' for Captain America as they think he is squeaky clean, never breaking any rules.
I absolutely loved book 1, it had more 'meat' to the story-line than I have read in other AR books but to be honest I was a bit bored with this book. The beginning is good but then there seemed to be endless chapters of being in Paige's head and it felt repetitive.
The obsessive alpha behavior, no cheating, HEA is all there but I wasn't as invested as I was in book 1.
We are introduced to other members of the team that Paige and Ryan work with on security and I heard rumors there may be more to the series about them. (
