I liked the book but felt the author far too much time on what the main character was thinking instead of the actually murder itself. It took about 75% to get to the cat and mouse game. The main character makes giant leaps to conclusions that didn't really seem plausible to me. The ending was a bit thrilling and I like how it wound up. I just as t wish the author got into it a bit earlier in the book Loved, loved, loved this suspense book!!! It would have been a thrill of a ride with Amelia in this book even without her loss of hearing, but that really amped up the suspense. I even dreamt about this book a few nights ago, my subconscious was trying to figure out whodunnit! Amelia is a woman trying to make her way back from her own personal crisis when she stumbles upon the dead body of an old friend of hers, and the story twists and turns from there. The author does a great job of interviewing characters and subplots to keep you guessing as to what will happen next, how Amelia will handle it, and who exactly is out to get her. It kept me up late at night and is my favorite book of this author's, so far. Amelia Winn is now deaf due to a hit and run accident as she worked as a nurse. Now, she and her dog, Stitch, are trying to figure out what to do next since her alcoholism destroyed her marriage. Who knew paddle boarding could lead to finding a body floating in the water and Amelia's curiosity could possibly get her killed? This is my second time reading Ms. Gudenkauf's work and I was not disappointed. I found myself reading during commercials of a football game and baseball game. I sincerely enjoyed every single page. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

When a tragic accident leaves nurse Amelia Winn deaf, she spirals into a depression that ultimately causes her to lose everything that matters: her job, her husband David, and her stepdaughter Nora. Now, two years later and with the help of her hearing dog, Stitch, she is finally getting back on her feet. But when she discovers the body of a fellow nurse in the dense bush by the river, deep in the woods near her cabin, she is plunged into a disturbing mystery that could shatter the carefully reconstructed pieces of her life all over again. As clues begin to surface, Amelia finds herself swept into an investigation that hits all too close to home. But how much is she willing to risk in order to uncover the truth and bring a killer to justice? Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
