He is incapable of viewing the opposite sex as anything other than a potential lover. But he insists that he can be just a friend.

She is a judgmental little twit who is incapable of choosing a man that isn't a shit head.

Together they have looooove. Not. It's obsession and hornyness. I give them five months together now that they have allowed themselves to have sex together.

Seriously though, had so many problems. The author spent sooo much time focusing on the obstacles to their relationship (she has hangups about ex-cons yet he is one, she is pregnant and he doesn't want to raise someone else's child) that no time was spent on them finding love together.

Most of the book was spent on them pushing the other one away, because of those obstacles. At one point I was like "What, they're not speaking to each other again? Why the hell this time?"

Plus there was that entire plot line with the baby's daddy that left a bad taste in my mouth all around. He wants the baby as a possession only, screw what his wife wants. The mother just doesn't want him in the baby's life at all. It is an all around awful scenario.

And then there was that made-for-tv movie ending the author tried, and failed, to have. There is a formula to those movies, darn it, that are tried and true! None of the formula was followed, so of course the ending doesn't work!

I need to choose better romance. ( )

"Her Baby, His Love" is Book #1 in author Lynne Marshall's "Charity, Montana Series". Lynne has long been one of my favorite authors, and one of the things that I enjoy most about her books is that they are never predictable. She infuses her stories with interesting twists and turns, and there is always an element of surprise in the story lines. "Her Baby, His Love" is a very contemporary romance featuring lead characters who have not only made mistakes in their pasts, but are still struggling with a number of personal issues in the present day. Taylor Clark and Joe Collins ended up in Charity, Montana at different times, and for different reasons. but with the same goal in mind: a fresh start. Each one of them has made some not-so-wise choices in relationships, and despite their immediate attraction, they try to remain just friends. After moving to Charity,Taylor discovers that she is pregnant by her cheating ex-boyfriend, who married another woman and tried to still have a relationship with Taylor. Joe reveals that not only is he himself an ex-con, he works to help other ex-cons start over in new lives. Taylor has serious trust issues going back to her childhood and then continuing through her relationships with men. Joe, who has always had free and easy relationships with women, knows that Taylor is someone special, buy he doesn't quite know to act around her. The road to future happiness is a rocky path for Taylor and Joe, but anything worth having is worth fighting for, and with growing trust and friendship--and love waiting ahead--they will find their way. "Charity, Montana" is an excellent contemporary romance series from talented author Lynne Marshall. ( )

I enjoyed this second chance romance story about Taylor and Joe. When Taylor finds out that her boyfriend just got married and that he used her, she does what she always does, she runs. This time she ends up in the small town of Charity, Montana. The townspeople are just like the town's name, well, most of them are. When she finds out that she is pregnant shortly after arriving, she is not sure what to do. Joe is an ex-con. He owns the local nursery as well as being the town's resident handyman and landscaper. There is something between them, but they are both wary of a relationship. When Taylor's ex shows up and threatens to sue for custody of the baby, things change in the town for Taylor. This was a sweet story that I enjoyed. I might have given it four stars if the storyline of the custody battle had not come to a rather simple end. I liked both of the main characters as well as some of the secondary ones. The town has some quaint aspects to it, as well as the mean girl, but overall, it seems to be a sleepy little town, that is home to quite a few ex-convicts who have pretty much turned their lives around. I am looking forward to reading more in this series. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley. ( )

Was given an advanced copy for my honest review.

Struggled with all the stereotyping of the ex-cons and single mom. I kept reading only because I was waiting for something good to happen or a twist to the story but it's your stereotypical romance novel. ( )

"3 out of 5 stars, Taylor (Free Spirt) thought she had a great life until a coworker shows her a newspaper clip that informs her that her current boyfriend got married to someone else that previous weekend. So, while being mad as all hell, she flees him and where she was living to move on to Charity, Montana. There she starts a new life and enters into a small town community that takes helping out one another to an extreme. Yet, she can’t help but be drawn to the town’s charming gardener even though he’s an ex-con. Then her life takes another unplanned turn, will she be able to get her life back on track or will everything be taken out of her hands for good?

I loved the premise of this novel, which is why I stuck with it even though I struggled to get through it at times. Nevertheless..."
