Feminist Baby is strong and smart, and she makes tons of noise. With each turn of the page little readers will learn the importance of doing their own thing regardless of what others think of them. She likes both pink and blue, chooses her own outfits, plays with both dolls and cars, and “is as smart as she seems.” This last is indicated by a paper covered in toddlerlike scrawl that includes the notation “E=MC2.” This board book will surely be given to many millennial parents-to-be at baby showers across the country, and the lessons within are just as important to caregivers as they are to their little bundles of joy. At the end of the day, Feminist Baby is a happy, well-adjusted tot who feels free to be herself. What caregivers wouldn’t want that level of confidence in their own children? The round, bouncy illustrations are colored with yellows, pinks, and blues, forming dynamic compositions that little readers will love. Adults will appreciate the final page’s visual quote of Rosie the Riveter along with the text: “Feminist Baby can be whatever she dreams!” An engaging and poignant board book that belongs on every little one’s bookshelf. (Board book. 6 mos.-2) -Kirkus Review Feminist Baby likes wearing blue and pink, playing with cars, and not wearing pants. While I thought the book was adorable and funny, it didn't really have much to do with feminism, Most of the book focused on things babies do that have nothing to do with gender roles like (throwing food and not wearing clothes). I would read this book to very young readers, but would not expect them to take away much from it. I wasn’t at all pleased with this book. The reason for that being, is that I feel this book could have been about any baby, not just a baby who the author wanted to portray as into boy and girl stuff. Feminist baby is about a girl baby, who the author says likes to wear blue and pink and play with cars and dolls. Well as a baby, they don’t know any different. If you fast forward to age 3, then that would be where children really start deatiginusjing between what’s for boys and what’s for girls. I did enjoy the illustrations in the book. The baby was cute and plump without a neck, which made me giggle. This is not a book I would read to my class or my own child. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Anyway, going to keep an eye out for the other Feminist Baby books because the patriarchy injures everyone by forcing them into boxes of expected behavior- babies will do baby things, regardless of sex or gender. ( )
