This fourth book’s English edition is self-published by the author and the translator. There are typos. I don’t understand why as I’m just a regular reader and could have corrected them prior to the book’s release. I also don’t know why there isn’t a traditionally published paper version since the series is so popular in Sweden, and my library does have the first three books so I’m sure they’d have this one too.
While I have this shelved as both children’s and young adult, in part because the author & translator mark this as being for ages 10-18, but as with book 3 I do think this is more of a young adult than a children’s book.
This book had an incredibly satisfying ending to the story of the Steiner sisters. I was very happy with the way things turned out. The 4 books story is an excellent coming of age tale. There is depth to all of the characters and all of the relationships. It’s a wonderfully done historical fiction story for young people, and for adults too. I learned quite a bit. It covered territory I hadn’t learned about in other Holocaust themed books. ( )
