I really did not want to mark this book is finished because although I was done reading it, I was constantly referring to it after thinking of lines from the book somehow relating to a situation I was in either, directly or indirectly. I think this will be an ongoing habit. I love this little gem. I have read reviews that range from amazing to absolutely horrid. I do not think this was meant to be a serious “thriller”. I find this concept interesting and I think the author did a great job with it. I won this through the Goodreads giveaways. I was very excited as I may not have followed up on this one on my own. Thank you! There is a moment in every horror movie where the plot twists around on itself and you get that oh-my-god-I-can't-believe-that-just-happened feeling. Brief, Horrible Moments delivers that feeling in every sentence. A collection of one sentence horror snippets, the book is a fun (yet demented) read. My favorites: All my friends knew I slept during the day because I worked the night shift, which was easier than explaining that I'd been given a curfew by the thing in my closet. The smiling clown looked into my eyes, clutched my broken, twisted body and whispered, "I'm going to make you a balloon animal.'' Some of these little horrific gems are great, others gross, even demented and some missed the mark entirely for me. But we all have different things that horrify us....there's a little bit for everyone in this book. Definitely a fun read for those who like cheesy horror. The sentences are organized into chapters: Monsters, Demons, Creatures & Oddities; Murder, Death & the Dead; Family, Friends, Love & Relationships; Food & Eating; Fear, Dread & the Unknown; Crime & Punishment; Doctors, Health & Hospitals; and, The Human Body. I had fun reading some of these out loud to my husband and son. Very creative and fun book! **I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads.com giveaway. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.** There were very few of these one sentence horror stories that I didn't enjoy on at least one level or another. Most of them were right up there with the creepy factor, which is right up my alley. It's a very quick read, but a lot of these stories will linger in my mind for quite some time to come. After all, a story doesn't need to be extremely lengthy to leave a lasting impression. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

I guess they would make a great sit-in-the-dark by the campfire read or something I might read at family gatherings at holidays when the conversation hits a lull.
All the same, they are fun to read and I greatly admire anybody who can create a story out of a single sentence and Marko Pandza seems to be able to do that consistently.
I would like to thank Blurb, the publisher, and Marko Pandza, the author for providing me with this complimentary kindle edition in exchange for a review. ( )
