It is a book about how everything in nature and in the universe is connected. A strong oak trey gives shelter and support to little animals in the forest when it's alive. And after it's death it turns to another forms of life -the young trees that took nourishment from the rich loam the oak left behind. This book is about the circle of life, and about a beautiful transformations of a king oak. I, personally, love oak trees, especially the ones that grow by my apartment in New Orleans. They have been with me though the thick and thin. Through joyful walks and runs, thorough heartbreaks and disappointments of life. But they always dried my tears with the warmest hugs that gave me peace. Thank you the tree for the many gifts you bare. ( )

This story tells the life of an Oak tree. We see all of the animals who considered this tree "home" and had all of the necessary things that they needed, including food, shelter, shade, and protection. Throughout the story we watch the tree get used more and more until it is left with nothing, only a stump. The story explains the gift that trees bring to our world, and how the death of the tree was the beginning of another life. This is a great book to use in a science lesson to introduce trees, habitats, and/or food sources. ( )

This book was about the history of an 100 year old oak tree. The story takes the readers on the journey of how the tree provided for many other people and animals. The story then shows how all of the nature gets to the tree and it eventually rots away. The story shows the process of decaying, but it also shows how the tree provides a lot of thing for everything. This is a good book to read to children, but the story is older and I don't think children would like to read it because the pictures aren't vibrant. ( )
