This is apparently part of an early 20th century attempt to inculcate what we have come to call cultural literacy. The author has selected a number of famous fairy tales, some folk tales collected by Grimm, some literary fairy tales. I am intrigued to notice that "The Three Bears" is a variation on Goldilocks and the Three Bears, although the bears are not described as a family, and the little girl is Silver Hair. I wonder if this version was at one time better known. By way of review, I can only say that the reader knows if they enjoy fairy tales. I have this on Kindle: since fairy tales often come beautifully illustrated, this is one that the reader might prefer in hard copy. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
