Reading this series makes me want to go visit Molly's gites and eat croissants from Monsier and hang out at Chez Papa and have a kir. The series just continues to get better and better. Meeting all of the villagers is fun since they are such an eclectic group. Molly is on alert when a lovely village woman is found dead at the bottom of her stairs and the cause of death cannot be determined. Molly investigates with her boyfriend, Ben, former Chief of Police. Very interesting read and another delightful visit with Molly. Keep writing Ms. Goddin! I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. I love Molly and the village of Castillac! So far, they have all featured very rustic doors/entryways. A great ‘entry’ into the book. A beautiful village woman, Iris Gault, is found dead under mysterious circumstances. Molly Sutton is determined to solve the mystery. Pros: A great location in the Dordogne region of France Lovely foods and pastries are featured. Friendships and village life are accented. A great book cover and a few (very helpful) French expressions at the end of the book. A bit more detailed plot and more character depth in MURDER FOR LOVE. Cons: A ‘cozy’ mystery - not a lot of ‘bite’ to it. An extremely irritating main character at times - so nosy. It bothers me quite a bit. Not enough local history and customs - the sense of place is present but not strong. I think it is unfair to show the local police as being inept. MURDER FOR LOVE is pleasant reading for a snowy afternoon in New England. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

"A beautiful corpse. Zero clues. Peace in Castillac shattered once more... When another native of the French village is found dead, Molly and the gendarmes are stumped. Complicating matters, Ben is hired to defend Molly's prime suspect. Uh oh, mixing romance with detective work can be a dangerous business... or at least, it can lead to some unsteady conclusions. Will Molly figure out where she's gone wrong in time to nail the killer? Or will her scheme to unmask the murderer at Lawrence's disco birthday party fall apart?"--Publisher. The most beautiful woman in the village is found dead at the bottom of the stairs by her husband. The former chief of police is positive that the husband could not have been responsible and Molly is positive that he did. Let the due diligence begin and other local intrigues come to light!
Background: Molly took her money from the divorce and went from Massachusetts to a place she thought of as ideal. A village in France where she bought a cottage with a smaller one on the property that she could let out to keep costs in order.
I enjoyed the narration by voice artist Becket Royce who really does a fine job!
