What a great book about women in STEM! I wish I had the whole set of these books. The illustrations are nice soft, almost chalk like art and are really expressive. The book give quick introductions to several ideas and scientists. Wetting the appetite for further scientific discovery. ( )

This book was generously provided by Science Wide Open as an early review copy.
Let me start by saying how excited I was to be chosen to review this book. We're always looking to elevate and highlight minority voices in STEM at my library, so this was a perfect fit. And I'm not exaggerating when I say I dropped everything but my morning coffee to read this book when I got it.
It's a picture book about, appropriately, women in physics, featuring five women from history who made advances and set records in the field. Four out of the five women mentioned I'd never even heard of, and am now thankful that I do. Unfortunately, only one of them was non-European, but either way, it was a very informative, well laid out read. The child asking the questions was a person of color, the art is absolutely stunning, it's a relatively easy read, AND there's a link in the back to a teacher's guide and possible activities, which is supremely cool. Very well done!

This is a wonderful book taking topics in physics and putting it through the lens of women in science. It becomes so important to have that kind of representation in media as science and technology becomes more and more prevalent in our lives. ( )

Much like the others in the series, this is a fun and well-written primer on what physics is. It's suitable for elementary age, possibly into middle school, but my three-year-old daughter enjoyed it as well. Topics in physics are presented through the lens of women in physics, both modern and ancient, and their contributions to the subject. (Spoiler alert: more than just Marie Curie.) Great for girls and boys alike. ( )

This book has a great balance of history, encouraging curiosity, and female empowerment. I found it to be well-written, with adorable illustrations. It acted as a great beginning conversation for the importance of women's influence throughout history. It's so important for young girls to see and know this. I recommend this book for any young girl or boy. Boys need to know the great influence of women too. ( )
