Very often, book 2 of a series feels less good - you know the characters, for one thing.

This second in the series is just as good as the first. I mean, even the bits repeated in case a reader accidentally starts here weren't boring!

Trick Roller picks up 3 months after Kill Game wraps up. Levi and Domenic stayed true to their word and have been taking it slow... but they are definitely dating when this story opens ...and seem ready to take things to the next level. Domenic is making some life changes of his own by going for his Private Investigator license and giving up the Bounty Hunting. The story follows the investigations of Levi’s official case and Domenic’s assignment on surveilling a suspected cheating husband. It’s interesting to see their very interesting intersection. This author is brilliant at the way she manipulates the story and keeps the reader guessing. I still don’t know who the Seven of Spades is. ( )

When I learned what "trick roller" meant I hoped this didn't turn out to be a cliché Las Vegas murder case that you see on tv, where a prostitute robes the wealthy client blind. Well it didn't exactly went like that thankfully.

I spent half of the book grinning from ear to ear. I loved how Levi slowly opened up to Dominic and still continues to do so. Same goes for Dominic. I love seeing the trust forming between them.Levi is such an interesting character. He's not as straightforward as Dominic. Usually I think of him like a badass with a soft heart, who could use some doting on. But he turns into a shark when interrogating people, and it totally fits his personality.

I guess I should mention some triggers: compulsive gambling; and (in my personal opinion) anger issues, though it's not confirmed. Both issues are discussed in depth in the book, which is another thing I loved.

Overall I couldn't be more happier and can't wait to see how the story unfolds. ( )
