How would you know when to get up in the morning? This is a great informational book that teaches about the concept of time, and how humans are able to track time. It talks about early Egyptian days all the way to present day, and also talks about the sun and the moon and how they contribute to time. It explains the idea of sun dials, pendulums, and mechanical clocks. All the different clocks are introduced, and we learn why we have different months of each year and 365 days. "How Do You Know What Time It Is?" is a book that helps younger students understand the concept of time. The book does a great job going all the way back to the beginnings of time, chronicling the history of time and where it began. It mentioned how cavemen, Egyptians, Romans, etc kept time. They were all a little different, but it showed the progress of mankind and their ability to better keep time. At the end of the book, the book mentions how we keep time now, and how planet Earth has it's own official time. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

What would life be like with no clocks and no calendars? How would you know when to get up in the morning? How would you know when baseball season was about to start? Long, long ago, all people could do was watch the sun and moon and try to figure things out. Eventually, they made simple clocks like sundials. And as time marched on, people came up with more ways to measure it. Today, quartz crystal watches and atomic clocks tell us EXACTLY what time it is, at any moment, all over the world.
