A science fiction series that features a hospital space station on the galactic brim that provides care to all beings. The famous chef has taken on the challenge to become the head dietician and create meals that will promote the recovery of all these beings. There is enough bungling that he has to leave for awhile. While away he visits another planet on am ambulance ship and meets up with a dying species. At first I wasn't to impressed but found it easy to read and I have to say I enjoyed the book. It is in the middle (#9) but I think other than knowing what all the initials mean, it didn't matter. It was hard to imagine these aliens. (

The Galactic Gourmet is one of the most entertaining of the Sector General novels. When one of the galaxy’s greatest multispecies chefs, it would say the greatest, comes to Sector General because it needs a challenge, it finds that outside the kitchen it is just a clumsy six-legged rookie. Disaster pile up around it, though it means well and has a good couple of hearts. Eventually, it is exiled to the ambulance ship where it must try to save a planet full of carnivores to eat vegetables. I would not make this your first Sector General novel, but if you have read one or two of the others, this one will not offer any stumbling blocks. (

This 9th book in the Sector General series was another which is told from the point of view of an alien rather than Conway. This time the main character is a Tralthan who is a chef specializing in other-species cuisine; Gurronseva has come to the hospital to be the Chief Dietician. (

I really liked the title character. Having watched so many cooking shows over the years...The Galloping Gourmet etc., this one was intriguing in his empathy and his ego.
