In these last years of the war, the daily grind of making ends meet and trying to put a substantial meal on the table is grower harder as shortages become commonplace. Of course the cost of shipping and men’s lives to bring supplies into Britain is tremendous.
The Americans arrive in Britain, and the phrase “Overpaid, Overfed and Over Here” was often heard. The American service men were lonely, but there were a few who conveniently forget wives and children left behind in America, causing heartbreak and despair.
But slowly the tide is turning and the end of this long war can been seen approaching. As the book ends the women of Pearl Street are already looking forward to whatever the future will bring.
Through the Storm was a great ending to this excellent Trilogy ( )
