A compilation anthology of three issues of KKR and DWS's online magazine Fiction River. This contains three issues, looking at different aspects of the fantasy genre, of which the first (the launch issue), was by far the best. None of the short stories were bad anywhere in this 'book' but the opening dozen were the best, each with an intriguing twist to make you think about what you've just read.
A wide variety of authors from a few just starting out to some more established names, most I hadn't heard of. DWS's entries only comprised of his Poker Boy series, and these felt quite weak compared to the rest. There was little out and out classical sword and sorcery, although that's not particularly well suited to the short story format. A few excerpts from novels and parts of a series. Generally interesting reads. ( )
