I'm currently reading Tom Perrotta's Nine Inches from which "Grade My Teacher" comes. It's my favorite story in the collection so far, uncomfortably realistic and sad, with traces of pity thrown in. A teacher confronting a student over her bad online evaluation may not be professional or proper but I so can see it happening in real life. A terrific story with unexpected pathos and humanity, "Grade My Teacher" alone is why you should read Nine Inches. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
The public and private self-images of a high school math teacher uncomfortably collide when she has a coffee date with a student who has posted negative comments about her on grademyteacher.com The story, Grade My Teacher, set at and around small-town Gifford High School, explores favorite themes of Perrotta's, who Time magazine called the "Steinbeck of surburbia."
