A fun volume! However, the more volumes I read of this series, the more it seems like occasionally the wacky high jinks and shenanigans take precedence over other elements like characterization. Like, the girls' enthusiasm and excitability gets amped up to 11 and then they all just sound the same. I still like the series and characters when they aren't in "to the MAX" mode. ( )

Bok åtta om Lumberjanes, Stone cold, dumpar dem direkt i ett äventyr: alla de som bor i en annan stuga har förvandlats till sten, förutom Diane (eller Artemis), som återvänt till lägret, tydligen med ett uppdrag att jaga rätt på en gorgon. Lite bråk och oväsen och en tillsägelse om att samarbeta senare så ger sig all ut på jakt efter gorgonen och ett sätt att avförstena sina vänner.

Det är inte direkt så att man blir förvånad när det visar sig att vägen till målet endast går att vandra om man lär sig lita på varandra och försonas, men berättelsen känns ändå som bättre än en del tidigare försök: det talas lite om familjer och de problem man kan ha med dem, den motvilja som finns känns välgrundad men lyckas övervinnas på ett trovärdigt sätt, och det får för en gångs skull dyka upp monster som bara är illvilliga och inte de också behöver älskas till godhet eller ens förstås.

Ett bra album, som får en att se fram emot mer igen. ( )

In this volume, our intrepid campers from Roanoke cabin find their friends in Zodiac cabin have been turned to stone. When they see teenaged Greek goddess Artemis, AKA Diane, hanging around, they assume she is to blame. (It wouldn’t be the first time she caused serious trouble.) Diane, however, suspects a gorgon, particularly since her father Zeus has tasked her with bringing him a rogue gorgon. She teams up with the Roanokes to solve the mystery and bring their friends back.
The overarching message of Lumberjanes is that friendship and teamwork lead to positive results. Diane learns to accept help from the Roanokes and they learn to trust her. In the meantime, they also work through some issues of unsupportive parents, relying on each other for the support they need. This volume, like all of the Lumberjanes books, is wonderful for kids of all ages, including grown ups. ( )

Ah the wonderful Lumberjanes. Artemis is back but not evil anymore. Someone turned the campers into stone and Artemis and Ligo must figure out who turned the campers into stone before the Roanokes are also turned to stone as well. Great story as usual. ( )

Interesting storyline involving Medusa and Gorgons. This book was a lot of fun to read. I love this series. ( )
