In 1919, a young man is opening a publishing company with just enough money to publish one book, which will have to make or break the house's future. He is torn between the manuscript of a friend (based on F. Scott Fitzgerald) and that of his jazz-singer mistress. From nowhere a machine appears in his lobby and begins spewing pages of books published in the second half of the twentieth century.

Although I understand this play was poorly served by its Broadway production, the script itself is a beautiful work about fate and the determination to carry on until we meet ours. (
