This is a delightful echo of the film, and one that confirms Die Hard as one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time! The book is a reworking of "Twas the night before Christmas . . .", and includes all the key pieces and quotes from Die Hard. Delightful, indeed - Yipee-kii-yay! ( ) I'm ranking this in accordance with how much joy it gave me, not necessarily for how good of a read it is! And I did enjoy it 5 stars worth! It's a re-telling of the movie "Die Hard" as a Christmas rhyme, in the style of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas"! With artwork that really gives the feel of the movie! But it isn't for children, as it does retain the gun violence and killings of the movie! If you like the movie, I think you'll like this! And I think this puts the argument to rest as to whether or not "Die Hard" is a Christmas movie! This book proves that it is! "So Merry Christmas to all, be kind to one another, And, most of all, yippee-ki-yay motherfucker!" Told in the manner of The Night Before Christmas, this adorable picture book recounts the scenes from the classic film. I saw this on the new shelf at the library (our library is a big lagging in their new stuff - I'm pretty sure this came out 7 or 8 months back) and knew I had to get it. It was even better than I ever imagined. The art style is cute, and the rhymes are clever, and it's just hilarious. It's probably not one I'll be reading to Henry, but we did end up introducing Emma to the movie last night, as being rated R, she'd never seen it. Since she's a couple weeks shy of 16, we figured it was ok. She ended up loving the book as well, though probably not as much as me, since I've loved Die Hard for nearly 30 years (omg, I hate that sentence so much). Anyway...if you're a fan of the film, it's a hoot. If you haven't seen the movie, it's available for streaming on HBO GO. :) A Die Hard Christmas: The Illustrated Holiday Classic by Doogie Horner (illustrated by JJ Harrison) is a novelty book, retelling of the famous movie through a delightful Christmas rhyme. ’m one of those that agree with the premise that Die Hard is a Christmas movie, in fact I just bought it from Amazon.com ($7 at the time of this post) and intend to watch it sometime this week. I’m hold enough to have seen this movie in the theater when it came out, and I remember how much fun it was. The artwork is great, second only to the wonderful wit and rhymes. The author stays true not only to the story, but also to the spirit of the movie. The lyrics are to the beat of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas”, the author does a great job sticking to that rhythm. This book is a lot of fun, funny, and entertaining. It is a wonderful, whimsical Christmas gift to the Die Hard fan or movie buff in your family. Enjoy the book, the movie and the book, one after another, And lest we forget Yippee Ki Yay, motherf@%er For more reviews and bookish posts please visit: http://www.ManOfLaBook.com geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
