Louise Potter was the great-granddaughter of the Earl of Priorsbridge. Her grandfather had been celebrated lawyer. But her father was not so skilled in his legal practice and died a drunk. Now orphaned, Louise and her two sisters needed additional income in order to keep their townhouse. Accepting a position with Lady Channing, to be governess to her three boys seems to the best solution. The position is on an estate far to the north and would mean a week of travel. Lady Channing has graciously arranged for Louise to travel with her uncle, Lord Alistair. Travelling with him would mean much more comfortable journey and so Louise prepares to leave. Arriving at the townhouse of Lord Alistair, Louise is shocked to discover the middle-aged man she was expecting is actually young and viral. Lord Alistair in return is shocked to see that the rotund middle-aged woman he had envisioned as the governess was young, beautiful, slim, and with glorious golden curls peeking out from underneath the rim of her bonnet. A Joy To Read This novella was a joy to read from start to finish. I have enjoyed how the author developed their relationship during their travels and found the characters very engaging. It is with eager anticipation that I continue on to the next story in “The Honourable Scoundrels” series, The Earl Who Loved Her. This is a cute novella. Louise and Alastair spend the time talking and really getting to know each other. It's a point made in the story that they spend more time together than many engaged couples of the Ton, and made me believe they could fall in love together over the course of a week. I enjoyed the story; it's a quick read and perfect for a Christmas read. ( )
