Reread 05/2022:
I think Erin and Nick’s story may be the angstiest of the whole series. I have so much fondness for Erin and the decisions she makes for herself. It’s not easy to be the one who leaves or the one everyone expects to drop in and ruin special moments. When that expectation is put on you - the expectation that your very presence is chaotic to everyone that claims to be your family - it is easier to fuck off and stay disconnected. I don’t agree with all of her choices but they are hers and she deserves the autonomy to make them. And then there is the good doctor, Nick. Nick Acevedo, who appears to have the patience of a fucking saint. He knows Erin needs to do things in her own time and in her own way and he doesn’t want to change her. For me, the way these two come together and apart and then together once again is the most rewarding and authentic in the series (I don't always love a third act break-up bc it seems to be a craft issue and many authors really struggle with it).

If you’ve been reading The Walshes series, you know about the abuse each of the Walsh children experienced and this book does not shy away from childhood trauma. So take care before reading, these romances deal with difficult topics.

CW’s: mental and physical abuse (not on page, from childhood), child SA, difficult family dynamics, suicide attempt (not on page, happened in past), cutting and self harm (not on page, happened in past)

'The style of this book is unusual as the couple are not in each others presence so they communicate through email, text and internet. They have an instant attraction and are really magnetic together. ( )

This was the most unexpected and now favorite book in the Walsh Family saga. Kate Canterbury had me taken unawares and delighted me in the best possible way.

So this is about Erin and ? Yes, I’m not going to be that person. I’m sure you can find reviews who tells you who it is. But don’t. If you’ve read the series, you probably have a clue. But why spoil it.

Although our hero is important as a loyal and loving partner, it’s Erin who steals the show in this engaging read. See, she is always on the fringes in the other stories. She is colored most often in an unflattering light from those character’s POV. So why care about a character who wants distance from her dysfunctional family? Because it’s Erin’s social awkwardness and intelligence that is so attractive to the reader. She has decisions to make that will impact her future greatly. Regardless of location or vocation, in her shoes, Kate Canterbary gives the reader insight on how hard it is to balance all work/life expectations. I thought Sam was tough to read, however Erin brought her own real baggage and one I could relate to all too closely.

Sometimes series are like wine, each one improves with age and experience of being. But this series is so unique and engaging. Kate Canterbury keeps the ideas fresh and the reader engaged. When you get to this book - because you will read in order- you’ll find all the pieces come together brilliantly. 5 out of 5 stars.

To be fair to this review, I have to admit that I just powered through all the books in this series that have been released to date, so trying to tease out my thoughts about them individually will be challenging. However, I think it's fair to saw that I liked them!

Also, all of these books take place through overlapping sequences of time and events, so you get to see some of them through multiple points of view. This makes it especially rich and interesting, but does mean that they will lose something as stand alones. I highly suggest reading them in order.

I had this one on pre-order and started reading it as soon as it was downloaded. There was a tagline on the Facebook advertising that readers were saying, "Holy F**k" after finished the prologue and yup. I really truly did say that. I had no idea how this story would progress and it kept me intrigued through the whole read. And I was emotionally gutted by the end, which is not something I ever expected to say about an erotic romance novel! ( )

This series is everything.

I am an addict for all things Kate Canterbary. I stalk her (observe closely) on all platforms. Instagram is my favorite because she posts little snippets of the direction her mind is going with her stories. It just furthered my obsession with this family.

I have always wondered about Erin. We have had a lot of build up with just occasional tie in with the family. All of the kids had their issues and burdens to bare but it seemed that Erin had the most (besides Sam) which made her run to the farthest places from "home". My heart for her. I wanted to tell her to go home and let your family love you. Then there was Nick. /swoon. The lengths he went to for Erin. Stop my beating heart.

I cannot wait to read Riley's story next. Mmmm Riley. ( )
