A quite fun and informative lecture series, eye-opening in a number of respects. Tyson has a casual, sitting-around-the-coffee-table manner of delivery which is a delight to listen to, and easy to follow without becoming lost, even if one has no background in the sciences. The segment in which he discusses the relative intelligence of chimpanzees vs. humans, and then humans vs. hypothetical aliens was very nearly mind-blowing for me. My only complaint is that at just 3 hours this series was far too short. (

This was another Audible.com sale purchase, and it was a lot of fun. I love learning about the universe, and especially about things we still don't know. Three awesome things I learned this time around -- Quarks were named about James Joyce; no one has ever actually seen an Elctron, and Indigo actually does not actually exist as a color spectrum color. (

An interesting popular science lecture (6 separate short lectures on related topics) which accomplishes one of the main aims of a popular science book — it piques the reader’s interest in the topic and hopefully inspires more investigation. I’m not a huge fan of Tyson compared to a lot of other scientists, but he is quite popular, with a large audience. Annoyingly there was some information incorrect at the time of recording (Pioneer Anomaly isn’t unsolved, and a few other things he got wrong), plus a high school or less general level of science involved here, but for the target mass market audience, it is a good book. (

This is a good book, and I like the "unsolved mystery" angle. I do recommend spacing out Dr. Tyson's books, though, rather than reading several of them all in a row (the way I did) since he covers a lot of the same material. (It makes perfect sense, since this is his field of study. But I think I'd have gotten more out of this one had I not listened to it so close to "My Favorite Universe" and "Astrophysics for People in a Hurry".) (

Neil deGrasse Tyson is an important astrophysicist and also one of our current great science popularizers. This audiobook is a bit over three hours of Tyson talking about some of the biggest unanswered questions in science right now, as well as a bit of history about past mysteries, since resolved. Tyson is, as always, smart, informative, and easy to listen to. He's got a great voice as well as a great speaking manner.

Thoroughly enjoyable.
