Can you review book 2 of a series without having reviewed book 1? Was it better, on-par, or a let-down from book 1? I think it was better. It had all the heartwarming, beautiful, and hilarious aspects from book 1 minus the uncomfortable age gaps between the MCs. This book follows the ever-so-amazing Grodo Livingstone and Mark Bennet, their relationship, and the threat that looms over Green Creek. TBH, the bonds between the family, aka the pack, shines brighter than anything else in the story. "May our songs always be heard..." TJ Klune has a way to make you feel like you belong with his writing. I have said this before while reviewing Under the Whispering Door and I felt it with this series as well. The way the love that the pack shares with each other reverberates through you once the book sucks you in is surreal. The story is very adult in the description of the violence or romance or sex, much like its prequel. It is immersive with extremely lovable, strong, and funny characters. The plot is thick and the comic relief provided is very much needed and appreciated given how dark it is. CASE IN POINT: “Hey! I’ve been shot. You’re supposed to be nice to me.” “You were grazed. And then let women carry you back.” “That’s because I’m a feminist.” This book talks about love, about the family that you choose, about the family that chooses you, that loves you and fights for you. It is ought to make you feel included. AM I WRITING A REVIEW OR A BOOK REPORT? All I know is my thoughts about books one and two and mixed up right now as I couldn't pen down the book 1 review and I am trying, okay? But also MARK and GRODO? They are meant to be but life and choices get in between them. They do find their way back to each other but I was not as invested as I thought I would be in their relationship but I am also shipping them hard. WHY AM I SIMPING OVER THEM YOU ASK? “Wherever you are, that’s where my home is.” “Because if this is the end, he needed to know that I never stopped loving him.” “We’re here now because we chose each other. In the end, it’s always been about choice.” Anyways, hoping to get to the next two books in the quartet by the end of this year. That is doable, right? geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderdeel van de reeks(en)Green Creek (2)
Gordo Livingstone never forgot the lessons carved into his skin. Hardened by the betrayal of a pack who left him behind, he sought solace in the garage in his tiny mountain town, vowing never again to involve himself in the affairs of wolves. It should have been enough. And it was, until the wolves came back, and with them, Mark Bennett. In the end, they faced the beast together as a pack... and won. Now, a year later, Gordo has found himself once again the witch of the Bennett pack. Green Creek has settled after the death of Richard Collins, and Gordo constantly struggles to ignore Mark and the song that howls between them. But time is running out. Something is coming. And this time, its crawling from within. Some bonds, no matter how strong, were made to be broken. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
