DK's The Bee Book is a wonderful introduction to the humble honeybee: nature's hardest worker, and much more than just a provider of honey! Bees are incredibly industrious, brilliant at building, super social, and--most importantly--responsible for a third of every mouthful of food you eat! Find out how bees talk to one another, what it takes to become a queen bee, what the life of a worker bee is like, and more.… (meer)

One of the reasons I like this book is because of how approachable the author makes the information. I love how the pages are designed with all of the pictures, charts, diagrams, and text bubbles. The illustrations were clear and the diagrams made the information fun to learn. However, occasionally, the pages were a little too full with information, which made it a little overwhelming to read. I also liked how the book was illustrated rather than using actual photos. Overall, the message of learning why bees are so important and how they impact our environment came across very well throughout the book. This book is approachable for a wide range of audiences. ( )

This book is about bees, as clearly presented in the title. It is interesting that the whole book looks like a giant "Piktochart" about bees. It introduces many aspects of bees and the relationship between bees and human. I think the book is both for adults and children since the scientific knowledge embedded in this book can teach people no matter how old they are. The whole book use colorful pictures to illustrate. And it also uses many lines and arrows to demonstrate relationships and procedures. ( )

"The Bee Book," by Charlotte Milner is a non-fiction text and I think it is a great tool for students if they have an interest in science. It is tagged with bees, climate, honeybees, insects, and animals. I definitely would recommend having this in a classroom library. There is no plot, as it is an informational text. I think that the colorful pictures would draw in students so that they learn something. The organization is amazing. It flows logically and carries the reader through all of the wonderful diagrams. I would definitely have students do a research paper using this book!

This book is fantastic. It offers an accurate look at the process of how bees work and what comes from all the labor. There is an index that will lead you to the information you want because the book goes into a great deal of detail. There are pages that define each type of bee and tells the reader where they can be found. With each type of bee there is an illustration that allows you to see what the bee would look like in person. This allows the reader to truly understand the difference between the types of bees. Another great page in this book is the steps to make honey. It is written on a page that shows the honeycomb pattern. Each step is listed out and the roles of each bee is defined as well. This book provides great information for students as well at parents and teachers about the work a bee does. This book is used to bring attention to the need for help with the bee population. At the very end of the book it provides ways people can take action and help save the bees. There are many reasons given that highlight the importance of bees and how to create a habitat for them to live in. ( )

Somewhat didactic book for children about bees, principally honeybees, with a focus on their role as pollinators. I enjoyed the illustrations, which I can't describe well, but which seem akin to some illustrations I've seen in other Dorling-Kindersley books. ( )
