"Painters of the Caves" by Patricia Lauber is an informational book about the people that lived during the Ice Age and the Stone Age, focusing on the paintings they made in caves. The book teaches about the people of those times, where they lived, what they ate, what they invented, etc. Another focus of this book is how the paintings were created and what they tell us today. I really liked this book because it seemed like a story, but told about events that really happened. I like that it included the lives of the people and included the meaning of the cave paintings. This book would be great to use in a classroom when talking about this time period. Since it is informational, I think it would be best to use for a research project or to discuss in groups. It is a good informational book because it comes from a reputable source and gives good information about cave paintings using language that is not hard to understand. Media: pictures.
