After all the wedding bruhaha Selina moves west and away from Gotham to Villa Hermosa, which seems just as screwed up as Gotham. Selina is just trying to keep a low profile, but those in power in the city just won't leave her alone.. She's stuck in their web. And it's a complicated web too. Wicked complicated. It was a fine story. Selina was a little more like herself and I do hope that the sister story line goes somewhere. I received this book via Netgalley thanks to DC Entertainment. For timeline purposes, this graphic novel takes place after the events of Batman Vol 7 the Wedding. Catwoman is in a new city, where she has a lot of imitators getting her into trouble. Where the corrupt wife of the governor is going to be a new powerful enemy that will shake up her plans for the future. I enjoyed the storyline, although it somewhat reminded me of the Halle Berry Catwoman movie with Sharon Stone. Even the graphics seem to harken back to that title. But not in a truly bad way. But the lines are there. I do want to see what happens in the next issues so that is a good thing. #GondorGirlGNChallenge This Catwoman takes place in a Batverse I haven’t been following—Selina, mourning Bruce’s loss and unable to sleep, flees to a different city controlled by a mobster family led by a woman who uses drugs and prosthetics to hide her physical corruption. When the mobster unleashes a bunch of faux-Catwomen to attract Selina’s attention, and when one of those Catwomen kills police officers, Selina is forced to take action. I loved the art, though the story probably required more current canon knowledge than I have. I have not read Catwoman before, so this story line had me a little confused. I did enjoy the artwork as it was fantastic, but as the story unfolded, it seemed disjointed to me. Too many things happening, too little explained. Her move from Gotham, I guess was explained in a previous story arc. Don’t understand why she can’t sleep and why her new nemesis won’t leave her alone. Again, loved the graphics, not the story arc. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
"The wedding night's barely over, but Catwoman's back on the streets, this time to expose a copycat who's pulling heists around Gotham City. As Selina cracks the whip on her former criminal cohorts, she's attracting unwanted attention from one of Gotham's most dangerous groups. The mob? Nope. Try the GCPD. And as if the Bat-Bride didn't have enough problems, don't miss the debut of an all-new villain determined to make trouble for all nine of Selina's lives."-- Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

The second volume may be more interesting as Selina becomes involved again with her sister and maybe has a minute to catch her breath. ( )
