Together, can they find the Twilight Killer... Before he finds them? Special Agent Ethan Barrow's father was the most brilliant FBI profiler of all time. Now he's in a psychiatric ward, committed for the very crimes he cased. But new evidence leads Ethan straight to Detective Adaline Kinsella--the woman he had a past with ten years earlier. Addie can trust evidence...even if she can't trust the emotions Ethan elicits. Can she now put the past aside to bring the real Twilight Killer to justice? Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

Friedrich Nietzsche's famous quote, "He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you", is key to this wonderfully atmospheric mystery focusing on FBI agent, Ethan Barrow, and his former lover, Detective Addie Kinsella, as they work together to clear the name of a famed FBI profiler who apparently succumbed to the evil he was fighting.
While the gothic overtones to the story add a creepy feel to the mystery and the suspense elements are well-developed, the climax and resolution feel rushed. Moreover, it is relatively easy to spot the villain almost as soon as they are introduced.
In terms of the romance, Ethan and Addie's second chances relationship has tremendous potential, but ultimately feels forced as it is clear that she has not forgiven him for his past actions.
The next book in the series focuses on a new couple related to the infamous Twilight Killer and it will be interesting to see the direction Stevens takes the story.
Overall, this is a good introduction to Stevens' writing style for those who are new to her books and an entertaining read for longtime fans of the Graveyard Queen series. ( )
