When Diana leaves yet another failed relationship, she goes out with her best friend Beatrice and gets drunk. While she's drunk, she decides that she's going to key the douchebag's car. He drives a really nice Maserati, so it will totally be worth it. The only problem? The car she keys doesn't belong to her ex, it belongs to Tobias, Dom extraordinaire and owner of Verge, an exclusive BDSM club in NYC. When he comes out and finds her, he drags her into the club so that they can talk.
Tobias is furious that Diana has vandalized his car. She tells him that she will pay for it and then tries to get away from him. She wants to go home so that she's there for her son, who is autistic. But then Tobias has to put Verge on lockdown and she's not going anywhere.
I really enjoyed this story and all the various levels and layers and sub-stories in it. Heh, no pun intended, really. Anyhow, Jane did put a lot into this story, but didn't overwhelm the story, which can be a really hard line to walk, but she did that really, really well. On a personal note, I have a son who is on the spectrum and it was really nice to see a positive representation of a kid who is autistic in a book, without the stereotypes. It was also nice to see a realistic representation of what a single mom of a kid who is autistic is like. So, really well done there. Completely enjoyed that.
I'm betting I can guess who the characters in the next book will be. I'm not saying because I don't want to spoil, but when you read the book, you can guess too. ( )
