Note: I accessed a digital review copy of this book through Edelweiss. i think this is probably super helpful for young adults dealing with anxiety or negative thoughts, who catastrophize regularly. i learned that i don't do those things, but while this book wasn't written for someone like me, i still took a couple of good reminders and pointers. namely, be flexible - in our thinking, in our responses, in general. allow for life to happen and unfold. and that we do not know what others are thinking, and ascribing our own negative thoughts about ourselves onto them is fortune telling of the utmost unrealistic kind. "'Comparison is the thief of joy.' - Theodore Roosevelt" "15 seconds [looking at or focusing on something] is recommended in the literature as it gives enough time for the brain to register the thought, not just look at it and instantly discard it." geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

HTML:A little book for big feelings. Informative and accessible, The Book of Knowing is a friendly, therapeutic guide for teens to understand and control their feelings. In 2015, clinical psychologist Gwendoline Smith began a Tumblr blog under the pseudonym Dr. Know. Her Gen Z-friendly approach to CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) resonated, and the idea for this book was born. With lively art, tangible advice, and immersive activities, this book is a handy guide for dealing with big feelings that provides humor, kindness, and manageable strategies for issues that can sometimes feel out of our control. .
