:) As a parent, my favorite thing about the series is that there is tons of detail for kids that want it, but you can just skip all the sidebars if you need to shorten things up for your sanity.

Ms. Frizzle's class is supposed to have a normal field trip to visit a beekeeper...but instead, they turn into bees and explore the hive from the inside! They learn about the different types of honeybees who live and work in the hive, and how honey is made.

The students in Ms. Frizzle's class get to go to a beehive where they learn all about bees. They get to observe how they pollinate, change nectar into honey, grow into adults, about their beehive, and so much more! There are so many good facts and bits of information on each page. I love this book because of all of the different pieces of information it provides. In addition to the story, there are pieces of paper and other text features to share even more great information on bees. Something else that is cool is it talks about possible misconceptions at the end and says what is realistic vs what is not realistic. I would use this in the classroom connected to a unit talking about bees. This informational text is so awesome and I could integrate engineering with a pollinator and literacy with a "journal" on how the journey to the beehive could have been. ( )
