Fog, cobblestone street, bobbies with whistles, horse drawn cabs...it all sets a wonderful atmosphere for this time-traveling mystery. Two time travelers from 2007 come to Victorian England seeking a colleague who might or might not be Jack the Ripper. Fascinating looks into Ripperology, and how the existence of the time travelers effects time, changing who lives or dies at Jack's knife. My only complaint was the author's habit of slipping into romance novel cliches when describing the romance between Inspector Robb and Sara, the girl from the future. Too many heavy sighs, stolen kisses, and wistful glances for my taste. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
For Inspector Jonas Robb each night brings a new victim. One night also brings two strangers, David Elliot and Sara Grant, who appear to have no past. What they do have is knowledge about the elusive Whitechapel fiend, including the name he calls himself: Jack the Ripper. Because David and Sara do have a past, it just happens to be in the future. Sent back in time, they're in pursuit of a twenty-first century madman whose purpose is to change history. As the body count rises, Sara and David realize that their quarry and Robb's have become linked in a way that threatens not only Victorian London, but the very fabric of time.
