At the advice of her therapist, homicide survivor Harper Reynolds has traded her job as a crime scene photographer for a more peaceful life taking photographs of the natural world. But her hopes for a life surrounded by the serenity of the outdoors are dashed when she inadvertently captures a murder being committed in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She flees the scene in fear--and loses the camera. Former Green Beret Heath McKade is a reserve deputy in an understaffed county who has been called in to protect Harper, a childhood friend he is surprised to see back in the area. When Harper learns that the sheriff's department can't find any evidence of the murder she witnessed, she is determined to do what she can to see that justice is done. What neither Harper nor Heath could know is how many explosive secrets from the past will be exposed--or how deeply they will fall for each other. In this suspenseful page-turner, bestselling author Elizabeth Goddard keeps you on the edge of your seat as you discover that uncommon justice lies just on the other side of fear

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions -
This story kept me on the edge of my seat and kept my interest throughout the entire book. The main characters each have a troubled past and we learn more about what happened to each of them throughout, as the main plot unfolds. I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good mystery with a love story mixed in. ( )

This is the first book by Elizabeth Godard that I have read. It kept my interest, and I enjoyed it. The premise is that two sisters return to their childhood home in Wyoming to allow Harper to escape from her job as a forensic photographer, and deep-seated memories of witnessing her fathers murder when she was a child. While Harper is photographing nature, she witnesses a murder. Her sister, Emily, a mystery novelist, begs her to return home to Missouri. Harper also reconnects with Heath, her childhood friend, who also experienced trauma as a child, feeling responsible for his mother’s death.
In addition to the mystery aspect, there is some romance mixed in with danger. The characters also rely on their faith to help them overcome obstacles.

Always Look Twice
By: Elizabeth Goodard

*REVIEW* 📚📚📚📚
Always Look Twice is engrossing and thought provoking from page one. It is second in a series, but I read it as a standalone with no problem. Harper, a crime scene photographer, is taking a break from her job, photographing nature, instead. While visiting a national park near Jackson Hole, Harper inadvertently snapshots a murder and, in fleeing the scene, accidentally drops her camera. Having no evidence or proof to validate what she believes happened out there, Harper finds that no one takes her accusations about a potential murder seriously. No one, that is, until Heath, a childhood friend of Harper's, intervenes on her behalf, and together, he and Harper attempt to solve this maybe murder before Harper becomes the next victim. Both Harper and Heath suffered terrible trauma in the past, shaping who they are today. Life is a struggle, but they carry on, using the negative energy as a propelling force for good. I liked Harper and Heath together because their relationship felt authentic, time tested and true, not forced or shallow. Dialogue throughout was intelligent, sharp and witty. The element of romance, while present, did not cloak the suspense or thrill of the mystery. The author balanced all aspects very well, including vivid and detailed descriptions of the area. I never could quite pin down the bad guy, but I am actually happy about that because the story is so much better when it is truly a mystery. I was intrigued from page one and zipped through the book quickly for some much needed answers! Always Look Twice is a captivating, compelling piece of fiction, and I just know fans of the genre and/or author, Elizabeth Goodard, will delight in this story. ( )

Another wonderful christian romantic suspense novel from Revell. They keep publishing the kind of stuff I want to read in one sitting! I had never heard of Elizabeth Goddard before but I'm gonna keep my eye out for her now, and you should too! I definitely would've benefited from the foreknowledge of having read the first book in the series but "Always Look Twice" stands on its own as well. ( )
