Este es el primer título de la trilogía de Anne Rice basada en la conocida historia de la bella durmiente. i'm not gonna rate this because i didn't get even close to finishing... i have thoughts though. i really liked rice's introduction (written in 2012) about why she wrote this book, why under this pseudonym, etc. it honestly had me super pumped to read since i know this book is pretty despised in the erotica realm. hand to god, i don't have an issue with the content. especially after reading the intro and getting a sense of /why/ she wrote these scenes (the non-con, the humiliation, blah blah kinky) i genuinely just don't take issue. this is a fantasy world, it's not supposed to even remotely imitate real life. (which is how i read most taboo books anyway) i can't keep reading because i just don't like the writing. at all. i had the same issue with interview with a vampire too, so i guess i just don't vibe with rice's style. it's so detached. there's no emotion! reading this was like reading a manual or like a bad bdsm instruction guide. "step 1: rape the girl. step 2: spank the girl. step 3: make the girl cry." i don't know man. maybe i'll want to give this another try another time, or maybe i'll give interview with a vampire another shot. sad this was a bust because i wanted to like it Initially the plot is intriguing, yet the "spanking" and BD/sm seemed a bit scary....however I could understand it better by the time I got to the end of the book. While the physical domination is not my cup of tea - I understand better the concept of trust and the nature of intimacy (and surprise to those who are aroused by it). I have read the 2nd book about 20 years ago -- so my reading is not in chronological order. I recall the 2nd book is better (not tagged in my library thing account). I will read the 3rd of this trilogy. DNF - I just couldn't force myself to enjoy a book about rape. This was definitely a LOT more risqué and intense than the 50 Shades trilogy... Those were "vanilla" compared to this book, and I'm sure the other two will be similarly smutty. Whew! geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

From bestselling author Anne Rice, writing as A.N. Roquleaure. In the traditional folktale of 'Sleeping Beauty,' the spell cast upon the lovely young princess and everyone in her castle can only be broken by the kiss of a Prince. It is an ancient story, one that originally emerged from and still deeply disturbs the mind's unconscious. Now Anne Rice's retelling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire. Here the Prince reawakens Beauty, not with a kiss, but with sexual initiation. His reward for ending the hundred years of enchantment is Beauty's complete and total enslavement to him...as Anne Rice explores the world of erotic yearning and fantasy in a classic that becomes, with her skillful pen, a compelling experience.
