'Over the Hills and Far Away' is the third book in my trilogy of poetry written about the places in Western Australia where I was born and brought up. With poet John Kinsella I have researched the three areas viz. Great Southern, Eastern and finally the Central Wheatbelt including the Avon River catchment. My books 'A Show of Colours' (20 ) and 'Dryandra Dreaming' (20 ) covered the former two areas and 'Over the Hills and Far Away' covers the latter where my maternal grandfather established a wheat and sheep farm at the beginning of last century. Initially I taught in a country high school in the area. The poems are introduced by a brilliant essay written by Dr Tony Hughes D'Aeth of UWA, the acknowledged expert on literature of this area. Some 18 pages of my our illustrations complement the poetry Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
