Note: I received an ARC of this book at ALA Midwinter 2020. audio nonfiction/memoir (narrated by the author 6.5 hours) - Indian-American comedian/journalist looks to reconnect with estranged parents. I listened to maybe 5 hours, but just could not bring myself to finish the last 2. This one might be better in print; the audio speed is just slightly too fast for me to understand it easily without the visual aid of facial expressions and movement, kind of rambling, and only occasionally amusing. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

HTML: A bittersweet and humorous memoir of familyâ??of the silence and ignorance that separate us, and the blood and stories that connect usâ??from an award-winning New York Times writer and comedian. Deb had to learn to connect with this man he recognized yet did not knowâ??and eventually breach the silence separating him from his mother. As it beautifully and poignantly chronicles Deb's odyssey, Missed Translations raises questions essential to us all: Is it ever too late to pick up the pieces and offer forgiveness? How do we build bridges where there was nothing beforeâ??and what happens to us, to our past and our futu Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
