Planning/want to read Summary: This book is based on a girls memories with her family, especailly her grandpa when they were in the sugarbrush. The story is about the girl and her family to make syrup. They taped the trees, prepared the bottles, then gather round the cook fire to eat chicken and dumpling and tell stories while the cold sap heats through,thickens and boils to make syrup. Genre: It's a contemporary fiction since it tells the story in a real life time. All the characters, plots can happen in the real life. It is a fiction since although it looks like a realistic memory but the author did not say it is a autobiography of her childhood memory. It's still a fiction book created by the author. Critiques: 1. The images of this book are done in very nice and real paints. The whole book is in the bright and warm style. 2. The words and the theme of this story is not very simple and easy for young readers to underdsand, but the language itself is very good.
