Activist Margaret Kimberley provides a fearless and scathing recounting of the racist attitudes, words, and actions (or inactions) of each United States president. The short portrait of each president spotlights the racism that has always permeated American society. It is not Kimberly’s intent to provide a balanced view of American presidents but to counter the imbalance that has been perpetuated by presidential historians and American mythmakers. This book will be an uncomfortable read for white Americans but is a necessary one. It is only by confronting and acknowledging the truth of racism that the nation can heal and unite. (
