As the movie is nine hours long and my local library and DVD rental place didn't have it, I thought I'd read just the text instead. Unfortunately it didn't have as much as an impact on me as I had hoped it would. I think seeing the movie, the people's faces, how they talked, would be better. Very few movies are a good substitute for the novel they're based off of; this book doesn't seem to be an adequate substitute for the movie it came from. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Over a decade in the making, this monumental investigation of the unthinkable: the murder of more than six million Jews by the Nazis. Using no archival footage, Claude Lanzmann instead focuses on first-person testimonies (of survivors and former Nazis, and other witnesses), employing a circular, free-associative method in assembling them. The intellectual yet emotionally overwhelming SHOAH is not a film about excavating the past but an intensive portrait in which the past is always present. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
