Broehl, Jr. (read 19 June 1985) This covers the years from 1837 to 1983. Some of it was very good, other parts really not too intriguing. Deere & Co. really doesn't have much to do with my farm experience, since we used little Deere equipment. But this was about the first history of a business I have read. I thought it worth reading. The history of Deere & Company is several stories at once. It is the saga of an American folk hero remembered as the man "who gave to the world the stel plow." This is the story of rural and small-town America from the time eastern farmers began moving into the Midwest in the early 1800s, through the American industrial revolution of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, to today's eventful agricultural scene.
